Our Commitment to Communities Stands Strong
As part of the Cornerstone Building Brands family, supporting the communities where we live, work and play is the core of our company purpose, and throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, we’ve been helping connect communities. In April and May, when stay-at-home orders made it difficult to communicate with friends and loved ones, we created window signs that helped spread joy and hope.
Since 2016, our community support initiative, the Home for Good project, has helped over 500 families become homeowners through our donation of more than $2M in exterior building products to Habitat for Humanity. And now, we’re supporting COVID-19 recovery by donating an additional $275,000 in exterior building products to Habitat for Humanity’s pandemic relief campaign: Homes, Communities, Hope + You. This donation will directly support families in need of affordable housing during this especially trying time.
You can help, too!
Share the video below, and we'll donate an additional $25 to support families in need of affordable housing during the pandemic.
The Need is Great
Even before the COVID-19 pandemic, over 18 million U.S. households (1 in 6) were paying 50% or more of their income on housing, forgoing personal and economic stability that safe, decent and affordable housing provides. Now, as a result of COVID-19, low-income households are particularly at risk, given their concentration in at-risk jobs. Twelve million households have at least one contributing member working in an at-risk industry. It is clear that homeownership matters and not having access to this takes a toll on the health and wellness of families. Cost-burdened households with children spend on average $190 less on food and 70 percent less on health care when compared with similar households living in affordable homes.
Making a Difference
Through this donation, our residential building products will be used to help build safe, affordable housing in communities across the U.S. But our commitment to communities is not new. Since 2016, the Home for Good project has donated over 4,500 cartons of siding, over 3,600 windows and 1,800 shutters to help more than 500 families in 90 communities achieve the dream of home ownership.
